Vasilje Micic - the best player in Europe of 2022

Nikola Jokic - Best European player of 2022
Traditionally each year Eurobasket announces the European awards for last year.

It's already 19th such ranking prepared by Eurobasket.com staff for basketball in Europe. Eurobasket has a network of correspondents, most of them are located in Europe and participated in preparing the ranking.

We have the policy of not involving the fans as it may influence the final ranking and instead of that we rely on the opinions of experts.

The votes were made in two categories: All-Europe and All-Europeans.

All-Europe ranking applies to the players, who played in European leagues in last (21-22) and this (22-23) season, so it may apply also to non-European players, who played as imports in Europe.

All-Europeans category applies only to Europeans, but also these, who played overseas (mostly in NBA).

Vasilije Micic (196-PG-1994), the back-to-back Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion and Final Four MVP as a member of Anadolu Efes was unanimously named All-Europe Player of the Year. By leading all EuroLeague players in scoring with 18.2 points per game, Micic has won the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy for the 2021-22 season. He also was a part of Serbian National Team for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022.

Vasilije Micic was joined by his teammate Shane Larkin (182-G-1992) - Shooting Guard of the Year, Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-F-1995) of Olympiacos - Small Forward of the Year, Nikola Mirotic (208-PF-1991) of Barca - Power Forward of the Year - and Walter Tavares (220-C-1992) of Real Madrid - Center of the Year - to create the Best 5 of the 2022.

Lorenzo Brown (196-PG-1990) of M.Tel-Aviv, Mike James (185-G-1990) of Monaco, Kostas Sloukas (190-PG-1990) of Olympiacos, Will Clyburn (201-F-1990) of Anadolu Efes and Georgios Papagiannis (220-C-1997) of Panathinaikos were all selected to Eurobasket.com All-Europe 2nd Team.

Ergin Ataman's outstanding work on the Anadolu Efes Istanbul bench was recognized on the Coach of the Year award for the 2022.

Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic (7'0''-C-1995) was unanimously named Eurobasket.com All-Europeans Player of the Year 2022. The Serbian center had another fantastic year when he becomes the 13th player selected as NBA MVP in consecutive seasons. In his seventh NBA season, Jokic averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.47 steals and 0.85 blocks per game, setting career highs in each category except assists (second highest). Jokic earned his fourth consecutive NBA All-Star selection and second straight All-Star start. He also was a part of Serbian National Team for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022.

Serbian big man was joined by other NBA stars Luka Doncic (6'7''-G-1999) of Dallas M., Bogdan Bogdanovic (6'6''-SG-1992) of Atlanta H. and Giannis Antetokounmpo (6'11''-F-1994) of Milwaukee B. in the 1st Team.
